In-class Exercise

Evaluating source results is an important skill to learn, as it will help you determine which sources might be useful for your research. There's a lot to consider when choosing your sources. Is it biased? Is the information accurate? Is the source relevant to your topic? Who's the author? What do they know about the topic? These are just a few questions you should ask yourself.

Take a look at the sources below, and answer the questions your partner or group. Be prepared to share your answers with the rest of the class.

Questions: Which of these sources is appropriate to use in research based on the following research questions?

How has structural racism impacted the field of healthcare? What impact does this have on black women seeking medical care?

What criteria did you use to select an appropriate source?
