About Legacy RefWorks
RefWorks (legacy version) is an online reference manager that allows you to upload, organize, and store citations collected during your research. You can use these references in writing papers and automatically format the paper and the bibliography in seconds.

Quick Start Notes
There are 3 ways to import references into your Legacy RefWorks account.
- Auto Export (many UIC databases have an autoexport function)
- Save and Import as a text file (some UIC databases require you save your reference to a file before you import it into refworks)
- Manually - manually type the reference details
Librarians have created online tutorials demonstrating how to export citations from some of the major databases at UIC.
