RefWorks and Other Citation Management Tools

Citation Management Program Help Guides & Tutorials on RefWorks and EndNote

Citation Management Programs

There are many different citation management systems, and choosing one depends on many factors such as price, learning curve, and functionality. At the UIC Library, we primarily support RefWorks, EndNote, and Zotero. These citation managers allow you to:

  • Gather references from article databases and library catalogs
  • Create and organize a personal database of citations related to your research (often including images and PDFs)
  • Generate bibliographies and format manuscripts in a variety of citation styles (MLA, APA, AMA, etc.)
  • Help you create in-text citations when writing papers.

RefWorks, EndNote, and Zotero

The following are all bibliographic/citation management programs that allow you to build your own library of citations, organize & share your citations, build reference lists, format papers with in-text citations, and more. This is just a handful of citation managers available.
