Finding Books:
Books are organized by their CALL NUMBER, which consists of a letter (or letters) followed by a series of numbers. You can locate the books by looking on our bookmarks (found at the reference desk) or the list below.
A through BF: 2nd floor north
BH through HB: 3rd floor north
HC through PF: 4th floor south
PG through Z (except QA): 4th floor north
QA: 2nd floor south
Science Collection: 3rd floor east
About Call Numbers:
Books at the UIC Library are arranged based on the Library of Congress classification system, which is typical of most university libraries. Call numbers correspond to specific subject areas, which means that you can usually find additional books on your topic by browsing the shelf in a particular call number area.
Checking Out Books:
As an undergraduate, you can check out books for 4 weeks at a time using your UIC i-Card. You can renew books by logging into My Account on the library home page (you will need to create an account).
Use I-Share to order books from 76 academic libraries in Illinois. You may also check out books in-person at any I-Share library with your UIC i-Card.
