Guide to Research Guides: Adding Photos to LibGuides

Editing Images in LibGuides 2.0

If you need to add an image to your LibGuides boxes, LibGuides 2.0 will not automatically adjust the image if it's a huge file size.  It is recommended to keep the images file size around 200 by 200.

From an email from Tara Wood:

The LibGuides styling includes some code to strip out styles that could affect accessibility--like super tiny fonts and low contrast font colors, and weird formatting that gets carried over from copy-and-pasting from Word. Unfortunately, that code also affects changing the size of images in the LibGuides WYSIWG tool, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's much better to upload images at the size you need - big images take up way more data, which is a big concern especially on mobile devices. Even if the image has some html added to make it display smaller, its still a giant image the server is pulling up, which slows down the page loading.

Example of Image Size

Keep the width and height of the image around 200px. The image below is an example that Tara used for testing. It's a over 250px high but it will give you an idea of what it should like.
