The University Library of the University of Illinois at Chicago is committed to assisting with the dissemination of scholarly activities and supporting open access publishing. As such, the Library established the Journals@UIC publishing program to advance scholarly knowledge in a cost-effective manner. Journals@UIC provides the storage, software, application expertise, and training required for scholars to host and publish their own open access scholarly journals. Journals@UIC accepts both new journals and existing journals.
Journals@UIC uses an open source journal publishing software, Open Journal Systems, which manages every stage of the refereed publishing process. It allows editors to manage the journal and its content from author submission to peer review, from copy editing to hosting the finished articles on the Web, as well as tracking subscriptions, indexing, and more.
Journals@UIC charges a nominal fee of $500/year to host an electronic journal.
To discuss developing a new journal, or moving an existing journal to Journals@UIC, please email journals@uic.edu.
