Welcome to the Microforms @ UIC Daley guide!

Microform collections include journals, newspapers, reports, government documents, and maps preserved on microform, microfilm or microfiche.

The purpose of this guide is to assist you in navigating and locating our microform resources.

The term 'microform' describes documents that have been photographically reduced in size onto a translucent medium. Two common microform formats are microfilm (images printed on 16mm or 35mm film reels) and microfiche (images printed on 3x5 or 4x6 grids). Microforms require an electronic reader to magnify, print, or save to a file.

Microform materials can be found by title or subject using UIC Library Search. Record the call number to locate reel boxes in cabinets on the 2nd floor of Daley Library.

Location: Daley Library 2nd floor south

Assistance: Ask at the main desk on the first floor or use Ask a Librarian chat.

Borrowing: Microfilm is available for use in the Library but not to check out.

Electronic copies: Save electronic copies to disc, USB drive or as an email attachment using the microform scanner available on the 2nd floor at the south end of Daley Library. You may also print copies.
