Want to Experience the Collection in the Library?

The Daley Library is always working to make materials more accessible to students, faculty, staff and visiting scholars. To this end the library has established the following technology setups for use of our media collection in-house.

  • Multimedia Viewing Stations - Located on the second floor SW of the Daley Library, these public stations allow groups of 1-2 students to view VHS, DVD, and region-free DVD items using headphones as well as play any CD audio through the DVD players. Multimedia stations are accessible on a first-come, first-served basis and are currently not available to reserve.
  • SMART Rooms - The Daley Library features two reservable meeting rooms featuring SMART Technology (projector, screen, computer-to-screen connections) and a VHS/DVD combination player. These rooms are part of the library's group study rooms and are reserves specifically for groups of UIC students numbering 3 or more. The room can comfortably accomodate 6-8 people, arrangements can be made for larger groups. When making a reservation for a SMART Room a brief contract must be signed by the responsible party and the use guidelines explained. For questions please contact the Daley Library Reserve Desk: 312-996-5570.
  • Headphones - The Reserve Desk loans out 6 pairs of high quality headphones for use in the library. The loan period is one-day in-building use only.
  • Laptop Rentals - The Library's new IDEA Commons on the first floor South houses the campus computing center's (ACCC) Student Media Lab (SML) and Information Technology Lab (ITL). The SML lends out a limited number of laptops for student and faculty use, for further information please contact the ITL East office at 1-312-996-9824.
