Services Available to the Greater Peoria Community

This guide provides information about the services and hours of operation that are available at the Library of the Health Sciences - Peoria to our Peoria community members.

Welcome

The Library of the Health Sciences - Peoria is open to members of the Greater Peoria Community.  

We are located at One Illini Drive, Peoria, IL.   Google Map

Hours

The Library is generally open to Greater Peoria Community members from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. 

We do close for certain holidays and for other reasons.  It is best to call ahead to confirm we are open (309-671-8490) and that staff are available to assist you.

Procedures for Visiting the Library

The Library of the Health Sciences - Peoria is located in the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.

Visitors should park in the Visitor Parking Lot. The cost is $1, and tokens can be purchased at the Security Desk in the building lobby.

All visitors will sign in at the Security Desk upon entry and will receive a visitor's badge.

All minors (17 and under) need to be accompanied by an adult while on campus.

Library Services

Members of the Greater Peoria Community must present a photo id and complete a user registration form in order to borrow items.

You may borrow up to 3 items - please ask at the Circulation Desk for details.

Computer Access

A computer is available for members of the Greater Peoria Community to search library resources and government websites such as MedlinePlus for health information.

Access to this computer is on a first come first served basis. 

Printing is not available.

Accessibility

The Library of the Health Sciences-Peoria has a single outer entrance, located on Illini Drive. There are multiple ramps up to this entrance, including one immediately in front of the entrance and one at the end of each sidewalk leading to the main entrance. To the right of the outer doors there is a touchless entry sensor on a post. The outer door will open when you place your hand or other object in front of the sensor.  There is a second sensor on a post inside the vestibule that opens the interior door.

All visitors are greeted upon entry by a security guard. Visitors will sign in at the Security Desk and will receive a visitor's badge, before being escorted to the Library. The Library is located on the second floor and is accessible by stairs or elevator.
