Native American Studies: Support Services

A unit of Student Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago dedicated to promoting academic success and achievement for all students, especially those of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Native Pacific Islander ethnicity, culture, community, and heritage. NASP assists students, works to increase student minority admissions and retention rates, and engage and inform the Chicago community of indigenous culture’s by providing academic advising, career coaching, culturally relevant activities, and creating a safe and supportive space for indigenous student concerns.

The United States’ largest charity supporting Native student access to higher education providing scholarships and programming to improve Native American student access to higher education and support their success once they are there.

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) sustains 189 chartered college and university chapters, 15 professional chapters, and 158 affiliated K-12 schools supporting American Indian students in the critically needed disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). AISES has awarded over $11 million in academic scholarships to American Indian STEM students. Through scholarships and internships, workforce development and career resources, national and regional conferences, science fairs, leadership development and other STEM focused programming,

AIGC has empowered 16,000 students from over 500 tribes in all 50 states by providing scholarship dollars and support services for undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees over more than 50 years.

Provides legal assistance to Indian tribes, organizations, and individuals nationwide who might otherwise have gone without adequate representation. NARF has successfully asserted and defended tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, natural resource protection, and Indian education. NARF is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that focuses on applying existing laws and treaties to guarantee that national and state governments live up to their legal obligations.
