At this time, SCUA is only available to UIC and UIC-affiliated researchers.
Reading room occupancy is limited to researchers.
Library of the Health Sciences (LHS) can accommodate 4 researchers.
Daley Library can accommodate 3 researchers.
Whenever possible, archival collections will be pulled prior to the appointment time.
The reading room desk is separated by a plexiglass “wall”. The Reading room staff and the researcher will practice social distancing.
Disinfectant and hand sanitizer will be provided to the researcher.
Anyone using the reading rooms outside of regular operating hours is to sanitize all areas used before leaving for the day.
For our researchers:
SCUA Daley will be open by appointment only between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, Monday-Wednesday and Friday. Thursday will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. SCUA LHS will be open by appointment only between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. A 24-hour (one business day) notice for appointment requests is required. Below are our policies in place for the Fall 2021 semester.
No walk-in researchers.Appointments are required and must be made at least 24 hours in advance, and SCUA staff will confirm the date and time of your scheduled appointment
Wear a mask: Everyone must wear a barrier mask or cloth face covering that fully covers the nose and mouth and fits snugly against the sides of the face when arriving at Daley Library or LHS buildings and while they are inside the library, including in bathrooms.
Follow social distancing policies: Pay attention to posted signs throughout the building to ensure physical distancing and other health precautions.
Comply with all health procedures: At the time an appointment is made, health screening requirements will be provided, and temperature checks and screening questions must be completed before entering the building.
PLEASE NOTE: The following requirements and the health screening pre-arrival are NOT optional.
Before coming to the Daley Library/LHS for their scheduled visit, individuals should read the Library’s COVID-19 Details. Individuals who have a temperature of 100.4 on the day of the visit, have a recent exposure to SARS-CoV-2, or are otherwise showing symptoms of COVID-19, must not come to the library/SCUA. They should contact SCUA to reschedule.
