I am an Assistant Professor and Regional Assistant Librarian for the Library of the Health Sciences-Urbana (LHSU).
I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in 1999. I taught middle school science for a number of years before attending the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois. While working toward my degree, I was a graduate assistant at LHSU. I earned a Masters in Library and Information science in 2006 and became the Visiting Health Sciences Librarian at LHSU in 2007. In 2009, I started on the tenure-track in my current position.
I am married to a wonderful wife and have two spectacular children, a girl and boy. Together we live in a ranch-style home located just outside Champaign-Urbana that, when we moved in (sans children), seemed spacious, but now, not quite so much. In addition to fun family activities, I enjoy reading, playing golf, running, and other sports, helping out on the family farm, taking photographs, tinkering with technology which I have little prior knowledge, and traveling.
My research interests include facets of library instruction, in-person and online.
I manage reference services and instruction for LHSU. I teach in-person and online sessions. Currently, I am the QP Admin chair which oversees online reference for the University Library. I also coordinate the online workshops and webinars for the Library. I am responsible for the LHSU website. I contribute to numerous subject and course guides.
